I remember my first Pilates lesson.
The instructor had me lay down on a funky piece of equipment called the "reformer". It had springs and moved in and out. He started talking about my "powerhouse" and put me in all sort of funky positions and asked me to move.
Okay.....this is weird, this can't be doing anything for my body.... And then --The day after I went for a run and my knees felt better. My back didn’t hurt. I was amazed at how good my body was feeling. Now I was hooked.
The day after I went for a run. I started thinking about my powerhouse and tried to squeeze my seat. For the first time, my knees didn't hurt. My back felt better. It was unbelievable! I started looking forward to my next Pilates lesson..... maybe there was some benefit to it, I wanted to learn more.
That was over 20 years ago. Pilates has saved my body. It has helped me to feel better at 51 than I did at 24. I always come back to Pilates to not only train my body, but my spirit as well.
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a series of movements first invented by Joseph Pilates over 90 years ago. It starts with training your core and then works out from there. It’s great for people of all ages and fitness levels. I’ve taught people in their teens all the way up into their 80’s and even 90’s!
All lessons are held at Vibrant Core (8599 N. 32nd St., Richland, MI 49083). The studio is fully equipped with all Gratz Equipment.
